You Are What You - - - Think!

Frank Quote 1

You Are What You - - - Think!

How many times have you heard the phrase, “You are what you eat”? I know this sounds silly but as a young child, I remember being afraid I was going to turn into a Hostess Ding Dong. Now some may say that I have, at least in theory, but what a strange thing to believe. Just the thought of someone turning into a sardine makes me want to gag; I mean who would want to be a hairy, smelly fish?

Now let’s look at this another way. You are what you think. Maybe you have heard about something called the Law of Attraction. You know, you think about something long enough and hard enough and then BOOM you have it. The concept is that your subconscious mind can control the things around you. So, before you go all Obi Won Kenobi let me share how you can incorporate its principles into your own Jedi mind tricks for daily use.

To do this, and use its powers for good, we must first understand what the Law of Attraction means and what its guiding principles are. They really are simple to follow.

By definition, the Law of Attraction states that negative attracts negative and positive attracts positive. Zig Ziglar used to refer to this as “Garbage In, Garbage Out” or “Stinkin Thinkin.” It goes on the say that the universe can understand our subconscious mind and “gives” us what we are thinking. “I won the lotto, I won the lotto, I won the lotto.” (Yea, hasn’t worked yet)

Now I personally am not one that buys into the theory of the universe doing anything. I am a man of faith, so I believe in the creator, and all things come from this faith. With that said, let me take a few of the “Laws of Attraction” and put my spin on them.

The Law of Attraction says, if you want positive rewards, joy, and happiness there are things you need to do.

1.      Give thanks. Now this seems simple enough. You get a flat tire, give thanks, you wreck your car, give thanks, you miss your plane give thanks. Now, as a man of faith, my version would be Count Your Blessings and Give Thanks. Here how that would look with the same items. You get a flat tire, thank you for protecting me while driving my car. I could have spun out and flipped. You wrecked your car, thank for watching out for me, I did not die and that is a blessing. You missed your plane, thank for keeping me from catching that flight, I don’t know or understand your reason but thank you.

  • It all comes down to perspective and the words you choose to say each and every day.

  • When you get up in the morning count your blessings and give thanks. Before you go to bed at night, count your blessings and give thanks. The more consistent you are in doing this will change your outlook on almost everything in your life.

 2.      Avoid negative thoughts and feelings. More than likely your life is extremely hectic and stress filled. It's easy to become frustrated and negative about a lot of issues and situations. According to the principles of the Law of Attraction, we must redirect these feelings immediately. Remember that positive attracts positive, but we also must not forget that negative attracts negative. As a man of faith, I would agree with the wording here HOWEVER, I would ask what am I watching, reading or listening to? Again, I go back to the Garbage In, Garbage Out. If all I watch is the news, then that’s a ton of negative. But if I read a good book or study the bible that’s good in. If I listen to music that talks about abusive or nasty situations that’s negative, but if I listen to classical or hymns or other types of upbeat music that’s good in.

  • Remember if we focus only on the garbage, we'll only see garbage. It’s just turning things around.

  • You know people that live with positive thoughts; those are the kind of people you must be like.

3.                  Speak what you want into existence. As per the Law of Attraction, if you ask something, it will be brought to you. Do you want happy children, more money, love, and a well-paying job? All this can be yours, but you need to request this through your subconscious. As a man of faith I say, if I want happy children, I need to be kind to them and raise them to respect others. If I want more money, I don’t overspend or if needed, get another job. If I want love I must love others, and if I desire a well-paying job, I need to honor my employer and do what they have hired me to do. (Now if it’s an abusive workplace, get out)

By no means am I saying that we cannot “attract these things” like the Law of Attraction say’s we can. I am just pointing out that I rely on faith and not the universe. We have no idea of how deep our minds can go. What I do know is this, if you have an open mind, an open heart and you truly care about others, you can have a happy and fulfilling life.

If you are want to find out more about my faith, send me a message, I'd love to talk.
