When’s the last time you took a siesta?

If you are like most, you wouldn’t think about taking a nap in the middle of the day. Well, you might think of it but your boss would probably fire you.

Breaks do not promote the laziness we think they do, in fact science has shown that your effectiveness and efficiency improves when you take regular breaks.

Here are some of the benefits of regular breaks.

👉 You will accomplish more.

Try this to prove the point. Spend an entire day working. No breaks. Make note of how much you get done. The next day, take a 5-10 minute break every 30 minutes. Make a note how how much more you actually got done. You will be surprised.

👉 You will physically and mentally feel better.

While doing the above experiment make note of your mental state and if you are tired or not. Then compare that to the day you take breaks.

👉 Your work will actually improve.

Face it, we cannot stay focused for long periods of time. Our minds wander and when that happens our output can be compromised.

There are so many other benefits as well. If you spend some of that time stretching or walking the physical benefits are huge.

Then once a day, take that longer 15-20 minute siesta. Set you phone alarm and close your eyes. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish after this quick power nap.

Breaks are a way for you to increase your productivity and leave work not feeling physically and mentally exhausted. This allows you to be more present with family and friends.

Try it today, tell your boss I said it’s ok.
