Have You Ever Been Put On The Spot?

Have you ever been put on the spot?
.
.
.
How did you react? Did you get through it or did it take you down?

It happens to all of us at one time or another. A surprise visit, an unexpected question, a phone call you weren’t expecting. Whatever it may be it can and will happen to you.

Here are some things to consider when it happens, some steps you can take to overcome it.

👉 Breath:

Stopping and taking a deep breath will help you calm down and gather your thoughts.

👉 Listen carefully and restate the question:

There is nothing wrong with repeating what you think you heard. This will provide clarity and buy you some time to think.

👉 Take your time:

Don't rush to respond. It's better to take a few moments to think of a thoughtful response rather than blurting out something that may not be helpful or accurate.

👉 Be honest:

If you don't know the answer or aren’t comfortable be honest and say so. It’s not the end of the world.

👉 Stay calm and confident:

Feeling nervous or unsure can be normal. However, if you project confidence in your response, it can help you appear more competent and capable.

You can also learn some great techniques by joining a Toastmasters Club. Let me know if you want some more information about a virtual club that I’m a member of.

So has it happened to you? Have you been put on the spot? How did you deal with it?

So what tips can you add?
