Are You Easily Distracted?

Are you easily distracted?
.
.
.
Have you seen those Taco Bell commercials where people are involved with each other and then they hear the gong go off? They stop and then act like zombies and walk off to Taco Bell almost like Pavlov’s dog.

Has that ever happened to you? You are working away at your desk and then “ding” a new email comes in or a new news article just was published. You immediately stop what you are doing and check it out.

Distractions, they can be some of the biggest time wasters possible.

Here are a few things you can try to stop the madness.

👉 Set specific time limits on your work.

Giving yourself a specific time to get a task done, say 30 minutes, has shown we remain focused, ignoring these distractions because internally we want to “beat the clock” and win.

👉 Sometimes windows should be closed, so close them.

Closing “distraction prone” apps on your phone, tablet or computer can elevate almost all of the sudden distractions that pop up.

👉 Breath and Pause.

As you are learning to create these new habits, the urgent to check email or your favorite social media will come, almost like an addict going through withdrawals. Stop, breath and pause. The urge should go away and allow you to refocus on the task at hand.

Time is precious, learning better habits that enable you to get more done in less time will help you focus on completing more of things you have put off.

Try it today, you will be glad you did
